We started off casually 6 days ago. Casually in the sense that it's not on a full time basis yet . Yup, Ju has one leg here and the other leg masih di Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Saujana Impian, where her best friends are hoping she would change her mind. So, we start each day with homeschool routine which is tak banyak mana pun. Then she goes to school in the afternoon. Then sambung sikit lagi when she comes home. Nothing heavy. My intention is to incorporate deen & health-related matters into our syllabus. Macamana pun, I don't believe in abrupt transformations . We will tackle small steps at a time.....get that into our system by practising it daily for three weeks before we move on to the next. At the moment they are : i ) drop off everything as soon as the azan is called....and do what has to be done . ii ) Go to bed at 10.30am . iii) write a 50-word blog ...alternating English and Malay daily. iv) 1.5 litre of water per day. v) morning walk. vi) Quran.....
Reflecting ...bila ku imbas balik sejarah kisah hidupku , konsep ' home-schooling' bukanlah suatu interest yang baru maupun revolutionary untukku. Many years ago, when I baru dapat anak yang sulong, semangat pun tengah membara nak bagi Khadijah the best education. For your information , she actually started to read at 4 years old....sanggup buat sendiri 'flash cards' , which at that time , I picked up the knowledge from Nuri Institute of Child Development . Terasa sangat pentingnya diri sendiri sahaja yang dapat bagi anakku the best education, memandangkan saya inginkan dia grow up upholding my values , my philosophies etc.
Anyway, going back to the topic in question,....we ( me & Ju) had a discussion on the subjects that we think are important .
Tentatively :
1. Of course Mathematics
2. Language - incorporating science , geography etc
3. Quran Recitation
Braistorming the possible names :
'No-school School'
'Baity Madrasaty'
'Jay-cool School'
'Cool School'
'School -proof'
'Sweet School'
'There's no Place Like School'
'School Sweet School'
